RE homework
At Our Lady of the Rosary, Religious Education (RE) is at the heart of our curriculum. Homework in RE gives children the chance to reflect more deeply on their learning, to explore faith at home, and to make links between what they learn in school and their own lives.
Aims of RE Homework
- To help children develop their understanding of scripture, prayer, and Catholic tradition.
- To encourage children to apply Catholic Social Teaching in practical ways.
- To provide opportunities for discussion and reflection with family members.
- To nurture creativity and personal response to questions of faith.
What RE Homework Looks Like
RE homework may sometimes be set across the whole school, such as during Mission Week, Advent or Lent. At other times, it may be linked to the specific topic that a class is studying. Tasks may include:
- Short written reflections or prayers.
- Creative tasks such as posters, poems, or artwork inspired by scripture.
- Research into the lives of the saints or Church traditions.
- Activities linked to Catholic Social Teaching, encouraging children to think about justice, kindness, and care for creation.
- Preparing for celebrations of the liturgical year such as Advent, Lent, or feast days.
Working Together
We encourage families to share in RE homework where possible. A simple discussion, prayer together, or looking up a story from the Bible can make a real difference to a child’s understanding of faith.
Homework will always be explained clearly to children in class, and teachers will ensure that tasks are meaningful and accessible.
