Home, School and Parish: Growing Together in Faith

At Our Lady of the Rosary, we believe that parents are the first educators of their children in faith. Together with our parish community, we work in partnership with families to nurture children’s spiritual, moral, and religious development, helping them to grow as disciples of Christ.

Parental Engagement in Catholic Life

Celebrations of the Word and Mass
Parents are warmly invited to join us for whole-school and class liturgies, Feast Day celebrations, and parish Masses. These occasions strengthen our sense of community and allow families to celebrate faith together.

Prayer and Reflection at Home
Families are encouraged to pray with their children at home using resources we provide, such as seasonal prayer bags, rosaries, Advent and Lenten reflections, The Wednesday Word, and our Travelling Crib, which invites each family to share time in prayer during Advent. Parents are also welcome to join us for class-led prayers and special devotions.

Catholic Social Teaching in Action
Parents support our charitable initiatives by helping with fundraising, volunteering, and encouraging children to live out the call to serve others through parish outreach, community projects, and national and global charities.

Sacramental Preparation
We work with our parish to support families preparing for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion. Parents are central to this journey, accompanying their children in faith.

Home–School Partnership
Regular newsletters and RE curriculum updates help families to continue conversations about faith at home. Parents’ voices are also welcomed in shaping our Catholic life through feedback and school–parish events.

Parish Links

Our parish is at the heart of our Catholic life, and we enjoy strong two-way links that enrich both school and parish community:

Parish Priest
Our parish priest is a constant presence in the life of the school. He leads liturgies and celebrates Mass, but his role goes far beyond this. He is often at the school gate at the end of the day to greet families, shares lunch with the children each week, and spends time with our youngest pupils in the EYFS. He supports classes with Religious Education, provides theological guidance for staff, and helps run our popular Lego Club alongside a member of staff, giving children a chance to play and build together in a faith-filled environment. His visible presence helps children and families to see the parish and school as one united community.

Rosary Group
Parishioners lead the rosary with children and staff during the school year, encouraging devotion to Our Lady and strengthening prayer life across school and parish.

Liturgy Band and Music Ministry
Parish musicians work with the school to lead worship and provide music for Mass and celebrations, inspiring children to use their gifts in praise. We also use the parish Mass settings in our school liturgies, which helps children to feel at home when worshipping in the parish community.

Shared Celebrations
Parishioners are warmly invited to attend school Masses, celebrations, and key liturgical events, strengthening our sense of one faith family.

Joint Initiatives
School and parish work together on charitable projects and community events, giving children opportunities to put faith into action alongside the wider parish community.

A Shared Mission

By working together as home, school, and parish, we create a strong foundation for children to live out the Gospel values of love, respect, service, and hope. This partnership enriches the Catholic life of our community and reminds us that we are all part of one body in Christ.
