Buddy system

Year 5 and Reception Buddy System

Our Year 5 and Reception Buddy System helps to build friendships across the school and encourages our older pupils to grow as caring role models. Each Reception child is paired with a Year 5 buddy who offers support, friendship and guidance throughout the school year.

The buddies spend time together in a variety of ways, including:

• playing together in the playground
• joining in local walks and trips
• sharing stories and reading together
• working side by side on art and creative projects

This partnership helps our youngest pupils to feel welcome and secure as they begin their school journey, while giving the Year 5 children the chance to develop responsibility, empathy and leadership. It is a joyful way for our school family to live out the Gospel call to love one another.
