Advice for Parents & Carers

To help primary school children in England use the internet safely at home, families can use some simple tools and tips. Grown-ups can set up parental controls on devices using things like Google Family Link, Microsoft Family Safety, or settings from their broadband provider to help block unsuitable websites and limit screen time. Websites such as Thinkuknow and Childnet.  It’s important for families to talk regularly about what children do on the internet and to remind them they can always tell a trusted adult if something online makes them feel worried or upset. Keeping computers and tablets in shared spaces, setting time limits, and learning how to use strong passwords can all help make the internet a safer and more enjoyable place for everyone at home.
