Achieve, Belong, Thrive

At Our Lady of the Rosary, our work is rooted in a belief in the dignity and potential of every child. Guided by our Catholic faith, we seek to educate the whole person by combining high academic expectations with care, inclusion, and strong relationships. Our approach is shaped by three closely connected principles: Achieve, Belong, Thrive, which together guide how we design our curriculum, support well-being, and create a school community where every pupil is known, valued, and encouraged to grow in confidence and purpose.
Achieve
We ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential by setting high expectations and removing barriers to learning as early as possible.
- The curriculum is ambitious, well sequenced and designed to build knowledge securely from Early Years to Year 6, with clear end points.
- High-quality teaching is prioritised, with lessons carefully structured, well modelled and adapted so all pupils access the same core learning.
- Assessment is used intelligently to identify gaps, misconceptions and emerging needs early.
- Pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and those facing additional barriers make progress from their starting points because adaptations and targeted support are timely and precise.
- Interventions, pre-teaching and keep-up support are used strategically and reviewed regularly for impact.
- Transition planning ensures pupils are well prepared for the next stage of education.
Belong
We place strong emphasis on relationships, inclusion and emotional safety so that all pupils feel known, valued and secure.
- The school culture is calm, predictable and inclusive, with consistent routines and clear expectations.
- Pastoral systems identify concerns early and provide timely support, including trusted adults, regulation spaces and targeted emotional support.
- Pupils’ voices are actively listened to and inform school practice.
- Families are partners in supporting pupils, with open, honest communication and shared problem-solving.
- Pupils with SEND and other vulnerabilities are fully included in school life, including enrichment, trips and leadership opportunities.
- Safeguarding is embedded across the school, with strong systems, clear accountability and effective multi-agency working.
Thrive
We support pupils to thrive by prioritising well-being, independence and wider development alongside academic success.
- Emotional regulation and well-being are supported proactively.
- Support adapts as pupils’ needs change through a graduated approach.
- Pupils develop positive learning behaviours, confidence and resilience.
- Enrichment opportunities, sport, music and leadership roles support pupils’ wider development.
- Pupils leave OLRS with strong academic foundations and the personal skills needed to succeed beyond primary school.
Pupils at Our Lady of the Rosary achieve because teaching is ambitious and responsive, belong because inclusion and relationships are central to school life, and thrive because their well-being and development are supported consistently and thoughtfully.
